JSW SASeismic shock hits Knurow-Szczyglowice mine, rescue operation is underway
There has been a tremor at the Knurow-Szczyglowice Ruch Knurow mine, owned by listed coking coal group JSW, and one of the miners is unaccounted for. Rescue operations are underway, JSW announced in a press release.
"An earthquake occurred at the Knurow-Szczyglowice Ruch Knurow mine. Nine miners were in the area affected by the incident. The accident occurred yesterday at 9:26 p.m. in face 32a at a depth of 850 metres. A rock burst occurred during the drilling of the face," the JSW press office reported.
According to the report, eight workers withdrew from the face on their own, while one miner remains out of contact.
"The mine management immediately decided to launch a rescue operation. Currently, seven rescue teams are participating in the operation," the report added.
