Tauron PE SATauron power utility obtains approx. PLN 133 mln for construction of RFNBO hydrogen plant
Listed power utility Tauron PE has obtained approximately PLN 133 million (EUR 31.2 mln) in funding for the construction of an RFNBO hydrogen production plant, the company announced in a press release. The project is part of the group's new strategy for 2025-2035 and will contribute to Tauron achieving climate neutrality in 2040.
According to the release, the funds from Poland's state development bank BGK competition will contribute, among other things, to the development of hydrogen transport and the decarbonisation of industry in the Silesian region.
"As part of the HP-HRS project in Jaworzno, a green hydrogen production plant (RFNBO) will be built based on a 20 MW electrolyser with accompanying infrastructure. The plant will provide green hydrogen supplies of up to 2,800 tonnes per year," the statement said.
"The electrolysis process will use electricity from renewable energy sources only – the Myslowice-Dzieckowice photovoltaic farm and wind farms. The hydrogen production facility will be located in Jaworzno on the premises of the Jaworzno III power plant," it added.
