Unibep SAUnibep wants to win public contracts; will consider M&A in transmission networks segment
Listed builder Unibep wants to focus more strongly on winning public contracts. the group's management representatives told the conference. Unibep is also interested in the segment of transmission networks, among others, and may consider the acquisition of a small or medium-sized company with experience in this area.
"We are trying to find our place in a difficult environment, which is to look for areas that have a public character, contracts that take into account revaluation, and they fall mainly in the area of infrastructure, road construction, rail construction," Unibep's CEO Andrzej Sterczynski said.
"The second part of our business is volume construction, but we are slowly trying to be selective about residential construction. We will intensively develop contracts in the military segment, as well as public utility construction. We will be appearing in construction contracts in the healthcare area," he added.
Unibep's CFO Pawel Nogalski added that the group intends to develop the area of contracts that are public in nature due to the size of the market, as well as valorisation clauses.
"We are looking for contracts in the volume construction area, which are more technologically advanced, in order to look for operational profitability on these contracts," CEO Sterczynski explained.
Unibep is also interested in the area of transmission networks.
"This will, of course, involve obtaining the relevant references. It may be related to M&A - we will have to wait a while for that. But we want to make our mark in this area," the CEO said.
"Today, we have few contracts of a strictly industrial nature in our portfolio, but we are developing acquisition capabilities related to energy construction," he added.
The group also wants to make its mark in the rail market.
"We will focus on construction works within potential consortia. We intend to expand our activities beyond North-Eastern Poland. We intend to invest in generation capacity," CFO Nogalski added.
In 2024, the group secured new construction orders with a total value of approximately PLN 1.69 billion (EUR 395.1 mln), increasing the value of the order backlog to be executed in future periods to PLN 3.1 billion (EUR 724.8 mln). Since the beginning of 2025, the group has signed contracts worth approximately PLN 300 million (EUR 70.14 mln).
In the area of property development, the group plans to launch four projects for more than 570 flats in 2025.
In March, Unibep's real estate unit Unidevelopment issued 55,000 D-series bonds in a total amount of PLN 55 million (EUR 12.9 mln). As Unibep's board member and Unidevelopment's CEO Zbigniew Goscicki reported, another issue is possible.
"We will probably carry out another issue (...). It is in the plans for the development segment to raise additional funds from the capital market, among others, by issuing bonds," he added.
In 2025, Unidevelopment does not plan to enter new markets with development activities.
