Vinci fund, part of BGK, wants to allocate PLN 1.1 billion to innovative growth companies

The Vinci fund, part of Poland's state development bank BGK group, plans to allocate PLN 1.1 billion (EUR 259.3 mln) to investments in innovative growth companies in its strategy for 2026-2030, Bartosz Drabikowski, the company's CEO said.

"One of the foundations of the new strategy, our overriding mission, is to invest in retaining patents, expertise, and research and development, engineering, and management teams in Poland so that they can increase the competitiveness of our economy and create added value," said Drabikowski.

He announced that BGK allocated over PLN 1 billion (EUR 259.3 mln) to Vinci, enabling investments in about 50 innovative Polish companies.

Vinci is interested in companies operating in the fields of space technology, security and cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, robotics, sports, health, agriculture, etc.

As announced by CEO Drabikowski, Vinci intends to respond to the pressing need of the domestic market, which is the shortage of 'growth' capital for companies that already have certain achievements under their belt, i.e., market-verified products and initial revenues.

"Despite the fact that there are about 130 VC funds operating in Poland, they make at most a few investments a year in companies in the growth phase, and there are years when no transactions take place. In this area, in line with the new strategy, our funds will be active," announces the CEO of Vinci.

He said that Vinci's strategic goal is to ensure that companies that have used capital to start their businesses do not give up on further development, seek further rounds of financing in Poland, and do not flee abroad for capital.

"We offer innovative Polish companies not only capital for development, but also so-called smart money, i.e., knowledge, experience, and access to BGK group experts. We support them with contacts and open doors to potential large contractors. However, we expect that the entities equipped with smart money by us will build their engineering, competence, operational, and management centers in Poland and supervise their foreign expansion from there," he added.
