Enea SAEnea Operator inks PLN 123 mln deals with Poland's environmental fund
Poland's National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOSiGW) has signed agreements with Enea Operator, the unit of listed power utility Enea, to co-finance two investments in power infrastructure for the development of electric vehicle charging stations, the Fund announced. The total value of the investments exceeds PLN 205 million (EUR 48 mln), of which PLN 123 million (EUR 28.8 mln) comes from the Modernisation Fund.
NFOSiGW added that under the signed agreements, Enea Operator will implement two comprehensive projects to increase the connection capacity of the power grid, particularly in view of the growing demand for electric vehicle charging points and renewable energy sources.
Poland's National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOSiGW) reported that the budget for the entire programme, under which four calls for proposals were held, amounted to PLN 1 billion (EUR 234 mln).
"To date, 10 grant agreements have been concluded for a total amount of PLN 568.3 million," NFOSiGW reported.
The Modernisation Fund is a financial instrument financed by the sale of 4.5 percent of the total pool of CO2 emission allowances under the EU Emissions Trading System (EU-ETS).
These allowances are sold in semi-annual tranches by the European Investment Bank. The money supports the modernisation of the energy system, improvement of energy efficiency and zero-emission transport in Poland and 12 other European Union countries.
It is estimated that Poland may receive approximately PLN 60 billion (EUR 14 bln)from the Modernisation Fund in 2021-2030. In accordance with the act on the greenhouse gas emission allowance trading system, NFOSiGW acts as the national operator of the Modernisation Fund.
