Poland expects notification from EC on first nuclear power plant construction as early as 2025
Polish government expects notification from the European Commission regarding the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Poland as early as 2025, energy minister Milosz Motyka told an interview with TVP Info. He added that the launch of a second nuclear power plant could take place in the 2040s.
"We have submitted an application and I am convinced that Poland will obtain notification and approval from the European Commission faster than was the case with other countries (...) We expect this decision to be made before the end of this year," Motyka said.
"In 2027, we will submit an application for a building permit (...) In 2028, the first concrete will be poured," he added.
According to the energy minister, the second nuclear power plant is a prospect for the 2040s.
"It is in the 2040s that we could talk about commissioning such a power plant. For now, we are focusing on getting the first nuclear power plant up and running as soon as possible," he said.
