Poland likely to see first electricity from first nuclear unit flowing in 2036
The aim is for the first electricity to flow from the first unit of the first nuclear power plant in Poland in 2036, the head of the nuclear energy department at the Ministry of Industry Pawel Gajda announced during the presentation of assumptions for the update of the Polish Nuclear Power Programme (PPEJ).
"The aim is for the first electricity to flow from the first nuclear unit in 2036," Gajda said.
Other assumptions of the 2020 update of the Polish Nuclear Power Programme (PPEJ) include obtaining a permit for the construction of the first nuclear power plant in the Lubiatowo-Kopalino municipality and starting construction work in 2028.
The schedule also anticipates carrying out preliminary site screening for the second nuclear power plant later this year, and the start of construction of the first unit of the second Poland's nuclear power plant in 2032.
