Poland to revise national recovery plan; payment of PLN 28 bln in October - Development Funds Minister

The Ministry of Development Funds and Regional Policy would like to obtain a government mandate for a formal revision of the national recovery plan KPO at the turn of September and October, which would allow it to be launched in October, Deputy Minister of Funds and Regional Policy Jan Szyszko told PAP and PAP Biznes. He added that a transfer of approximately PLN 28 billion (EUR 6.6 bln) from an earlier request for payment from the KPO is also expected in October.

"On Monday, we are starting informal negotiations with the European Commission on the revision of the KPO. We want to move the milestones for the implementation of investments financed from KPO grants forward by a few months, thanks to which investments that would be at risk will be implemented," Szyszko told PAP and PAP Biznes on the sidelines of the Economic Forum in Karpacz.

As an example of such a postponement, he cited the project to build an installation terminal for offshore wind farms in Gdansk, whose milestone has been replaced from the opening to the completion of technical work.

"However, there is no question of entering new investments into the KPO," he stipulated.

The deputy minister noted that Monday's talks with the EC are informal, and he would like to obtain a government mandate for a formal review at the turn of September and October, which would allow it to be launched in October.

"This means that the last payment from the KPO this year may take place after the review," he noted.

He announced that in October, Brussels should send a payment of approximately PLN 28 billion (EUR 6.6 bln) from a previously submitted application.
