Poland to see final choice of WIRF-family index to replace WIBOR benchmark in December
Information on the selection of a reference index from the WIRF family to eventually replace WIBOR benchmark indicator will take place in December, the head of Polish banking lobby ZBP Tadeusz Bialek told a press conference.
"The second round of follow-up consultation has ended. (...) Only the WIRF index, its four variants, was consulted, so it is already clear today that it will be an index from the WIRF family. We know what the results were in the consultation, we have to officially put it in the form of an announcement and approve it," Bialek said.
"I think the deadline will be met and before Christmas, we will know officially the decisions of the steering committee [KS NGR] on the final choice of the indicator that will replace the WIBOR," he added.
Poland's Steering Committee of the National Working Group for the reference rate reform (KS NGR) announced earlier that the additional round of opinion gathering as part of the public consultation on the WIBOR alternative benchmark indicator review process has been completed.
In early October, KS NGR decided to include four indices and index proposals from the WIRF family of indices in an additional round of public consultation. The WIRON, WIRON+ and WRR indices have not been further consulted.
