Poland's FDI inflow down by PLN 64 bln to PLN 55.7 bln in 2024 - central bank
Poland saw PLN 55.7 billion (EUR 13.13 bln) in net foreign direct investments (FDI) inflow in 2024, down by PLN 64 billion (EUR 15.1 bln) year on year, Poland's central bank NBP reported in its full balance payment.
"According to preliminary data, the value of foreign direct investment transactions in Poland in 2024 amounted to PLN 55.7 billion, which is PLN 64 billion less than in 2023," NBP wrote.
Poland's central bank added that a decrease in the value of transactions across all components was responsible for the total decline, with transactions in shares and other forms of equity stakes declining the most (by PLN 37.6 billion or EUR 8.87 bln).
The largest contribution to the value of total transactions came from the reinvestment of profits of direct investment entities, which amounted to PLN 53.1 billion (EUR 12.52 bln), down by PLN 19.4 billion (EUR 4.57 bln) on the previous year.
The inflow of investments in the form of equity shares amounted to PLN 21.3 billion (EUR 5.02 bln).
In 2024, the negative balance of transactions in debt instruments reached PLN 19 billion (EUR 4.48 bln).
"This is a continuation of the deleveraging of Polish direct investment entities with direct investors observed in 2023," NBP commented.
According to Poland's central bank, the largest direct investments flowed to Poland from Luxembourg, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and France.
The largest capital outflows were to Switzerland and the UK, mainly due to debt repayments.
