Polish labor market eyes trend of less employee turnover between companies remaining - HR firm
The trend of lower and lower employee turnover between companies continues in the Polish labor market - a result of, among other things, less availability of attractive employment offers, according to the ‘Work Monitor’ survey prepared by HR and consulting firm Randstad.
“The trend of lower and lower employee turnover continues. In the past six months, only 18 percent of employees changed employers and 17 percent changed positions within the same company," the commentary on the survey wrote.
"More often these changes are made by women (20 percent), young people (29 percent) and employees with higher education (19 percent). And when it comes to turnover by job level, the largest movement was observed in engineering staff at 41 percent, and the smallest among blue-collar workers: 10 percent,” it added.
The authors of the report point out that since the last survey, the average time to look for employment has decreased slightly (3 months in the last quarter of 2024) but is still quite long compared to the results of previous years.
“This is also a result of lower availability of job offers. Employees in entry-level positions in industry, construction and logistics are clearly able to find work faster,” they wrote.
“Longer job searches are being made by women (almost 4 months), workers under 40 (4 months) and residents of rural areas within agglomerations (here almost 5 months),” the commentary added.
The authors pointed out that the fastest candidates to find employment were people with primary education in cities with up to 200,000 residents.
At the same time, although workers have changed jobs less frequently, the need to do so is growing among them.
“Never before in the history of the survey has the percentage of people who remain passive in the labour market been so low: 41 percent are not looking for other employment at all," Randstad's experts said.
"At the same time, the number of workers who are not actively looking for a job, but are reviewing offers, is growing at 49 percent (this is an increase of 3 percentage points from the previous survey),” they added.
The authors specified that active job searches were most often declared by engineers (18 percent), drivers (14 percent) and masters and foremen (13 percent).
