Polish MPC wants to avoid situation of having to fine-tune monetary policy by raising rates, says c. bank governor
Poland's Monetary Policy Council wants to avoid a situation in which it will have to fine-tune monetary policy by raising interest rates, central bank NBP governor Adam Glapinski told a press conference following the MPC decision-making meeting held on September 2-3.
"We do not hesitate when it is necessary to lower rates, but if we are concerned about something or there is a threat, we do not lower them; there is no question of raising them, under any circumstances," Glapinski stressed.
"However, we would like to avoid having to adjust in the other direction next year, for example, because we lowered them too hastily," he added.
Hence, according to the governor, the National Bank of Poland and the Monetary Policy Council have been acting cautiously and slowly for a long time.
