UPDATE: Poland's climate and energy plan finally adopted by MKiS; now energy ministry takes over
The draft update to Poland's national energy and climate plan (NECP; Polish: KPEiK) has been finally adopted by the Ministry of Climate and Environment (MKiS), but it is the Ministry of Energy (ME) which is to manage the further stages of work on the document, Poland's climate minister Paulina Hennig-Kloska told a press conference in Warsaw.
"This document has been finally approved by the management of the Ministry of Climate and Environment and will be able to move forward – it will be forwarded to the Ministry of Energy, which will be responsible for its further stages," Hennig-Kloska told reporters.
She added that the next stages of the KPEiK update project will be carried out by the Ministry of Energy in cooperation with the Ministry of Climate and Environment, and will include consultations in the Social Dialogue Council (RDS) and a joint committee of the government and local government, as well as work in the bodies adopting the document, i.e. government committees.
Finally, the document will be submitted to the government, and this is planned for September.
The draft update of the National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP or Polish KPEiK) until 2030, prepared by Poland's climate ministry, assumes investments of PLN 1.1 trillion (EUR 258.4 bln) by 2030, most of which will be invested in new capacity, including renewable energy sources, networks and thermal modernisation.
