Bank Gospodarstwa KrajowegoEIF to manage PLN 1.5 bln Future Tech Poland fund supporting innovation and VC in Poland
The European Investment Fund (EIF), part of the European Investment Bank Group, is allocating PLN 500 million (EUR 110 mln) to manage the new Future Tech Poland (FTP) fund, which will mobilise venture capital investments under the Innovate Poland programme, the EIB said in a press release. The Fund will be worth PLN 1.5 billion (EUR 330 mln) in total, thanks to additional PLN 1 billion (EUR 220 mln) from Poland’s state development bank BGK,
"On November 14, the EU development bank announced its participation in the national Innovate Poland investment mobilisation programme; provided strategic financing to the Polish advanced technology company Synerise; and initiated cooperation with the Polish Development Fund (PFR) on a new digital platform supporting innovative projects’ access to available financing sources," the EIB announced in the press release.
According to the statement, the EIF has declared to allocate PLN 500 million (EUR 118.2 mln) and manage the Future Tech Poland fund, targeting venture capital investments under the Innovate Poland programme aimed at promoting economic innovation, announced on Friday by Poland's finance and economy minister Andrzej Domanski.
The EIB pointed out that the Bank has also signed a venture debt financing agreement worth EUR 25 million with Synerise, Polish company providing artificial intelligence and business automation solutions.
"The company will use the funds to implement a development program worth EUR 54 million, aimed at introducing a new generation of behavioural analysis technology using artificial intelligence. Synerise plans to expand its proprietary advanced big data analytics infrastructure and increase sales in Europe, North America, and the Middle East," the EIB said.
The FTP fund will boost Polish venture capital and startups, scaling VC funds and strengthening Poland's role as a hub for high-risk innovation. After an agreement between EFI and BGK is signed soon, first projects will be approved this year, with full implementation by the end of 2027.
According to the EIB statement, the funds for Synerise came from TechEU, the flagship program of the EIB Group and the largest innovation and breakthrough technology financing plan in EU history.
"The EIB Group has increased financing for this purpose to EUR 70 billion by the end of 2027. The funds aim to mobilise EUR 250 billion in new investments in key areas including artificial intelligence, quantum computing, digital infrastructure, biotechnology, advanced medical technologies, security and defence, clean energy, and semiconductors," the Bank added.
The TechEU program supports startups and SMEs across the EU with equity, loans, and guarantees to improve financing access.
A conference on the Innovate Poland programme will be held on Friday at 13:30 local time with representatives of Poland's development fund PFR's subsidiary - PFR Ventures, Poland's state development bank BGK, listed insurance group PZU and finance and economy minister Andrzej Domanski.
