UPDATE 2: Polish factory in Ukraine hit by Russian drones, says foreign affairs minister
Russian drones struck the factory belonging to the Polish group Barlinek in Vinnytsia, Ukraine, causing injuries, Poland's foreign affairs minister Radoslaw Sikorski wrote on X. Barlinek does not expect to be able to resume production earlier than in six months.
"Russian drones struck the Barlinek Group factory in Vinnytsia. The plant manager told me a moment ago that it was a deliberate attack from three directions. There are injuries, including two people with severe burns," Sikorski wrote.
He added that Ukrainian services and the Polish consulate are cooperating regarding the attack.
The Polish factory that was hit by Russian drones belongs to Barlinek - the Polish manufacturer of wooden floors with a production capacity of over 12 million square metres per year.
Barlinek's CEO Wojciech Michalowski confirmed that no one was killed and two people were injured as a result of the Russian drone attack.
"At present, we do not expect production to resume earlier than in six months. The losses are significant, and we are still assessing them," the CEO wrote in a statement sent to PAP Biznes.
Barlinek exports its products to 75 countries, with factories located in Poland, Ukraine and Romania, as well as offices in Germany and the United States. The company is based in Kielce and is owned by Polish billionaire Michal Solowow.
