RWE AGRWE power obtains construction permit for F.E.W. Baltic II offshore wind farm
German energy concern RWE has obtained construction permits for the F.E.W. Baltic II offshore wind farm. They concern the construction of offshore wind turbines together with the internal power and telecommunications network and the offshore substation for the offshore wind farm, the company announced in a press release.
"We have obtained two key construction permits for our offshore wind farm. This is a significant milestone for the entire F.E.W. Baltic II project," announced the RWE's Team Lead Offshore Consenting Tomasz Kreft, quoted in the press release.
"We plan to receive all necessary construction permits in the first quarter of 2025. These documents will allow us to proceed with our first offshore wind project in the Polish Baltic Sea on schedule," he added.
The offshore windfarm project F.E.W. Baltic II is located in the Polish part of the Baltic Sea on an area of 41 square kilometres at water depths of 30-50 metres and a distance of around 55 kilometres to shore. It is developed by a mixed team of experts from Poland and Germany.
F.E.W. Baltic II project will generate supply chain benefits, plus associated direct and indirect jobs and contracts.
RWE stressed in the press release that it will make sure that Polish share of F.E.W. Baltic II meets expectations for local consignment throughout the lifetime of the wind farm. Once constructed, F.E.W. Baltic II will supply 350,000 households with sustainable renewable energy.
