Budimex SABudimex builder plans to participate in Poland's central transportation hub tenders
Listed builder Budimex maintains a stable portfolio in the railway segment on the Polish market and expects tenders in Poland's central transportation hub CPK project, which may help stabilise the market situation, board member Maciej Olek told a press conference. The group is working on the Rail Baltica project in Latvia and Estonia and plans to participate in tenders in Lithuania.
"In the railway segment, our portfolio on the Polish market is worth approximately PLN 3 billion. We maintain a stable level of work to be performed. There are many offers on the market in terms of value, but not many are being signed," Budimex's board member Maciej Olek told the conference.
"We are waiting for the tender processes for the CPK project to begin. In the third and fourth quarter, we expect projects related to the railway component to appear on the market. This may be an injection of long-term projects on the market, which should stabilise the situation," he added.
Budimex is also executing foreign contracts, including the Rail Baltica project.
"The contract in Latvia is gaining momentum. The value of the signed acts for individual sections is EUR 90 million, and by the end of the year, we expect 11 building permits to be issued for construction from the border towards Riga," said Olek.
"The project is long-term and is a commitment for several years. Over time, the number of orders should increase. In Estonia, we have started the preparatory phase. After two months of work, the contracting authority declared its willingness to start construction work sooner. It is likely that work will begin before the end of the development phase," he added.
The group is also submitting bids for the Rail Baltica project on the Lithuanian market.
"Looking at the results so far, we believe that we have a chance of winning orders in Lithuania," Olek assessed.
