KGHM Polska Miedź SACopper tax needs to be updated at least, says KGHM's CEO
The copper tax needs at least an update, the CEO of listed copper and silver producer KGHM Andrzej Szydlo assessed at a press conference. He added that the concern has already provided Poland's Ministry of Finance with a set of information on the matter.
"We are in constant contact with the Ministry of Finance. In my opinion, we have already provided all the data to assess the degree of obsolescence of this tax," CEO Szydlo said.
"Once, its dimension was at a certain level. I will not attempt to criticise this level in past years, but this tax at least needs to be updated," he pointed out.
KGHM's CEO reported that the group is at a very advanced stage of dialogue with the finance ministry.
"I think we have already provided complete information," he added.
Poland's Ministry of Finance is assuming fossil fuels tax revenues of PLN 3.5 billion (EUR 825.65 mln) this year.
In February, the finance minister Andrzej Domanski said he saw the possibility of reducing the copper tax by PLN 500 million (EUR 117.95 mln) from 2026 and by PLN 700 million (EUR 165.13 mln) in the following year.
