EIB grants EUR 150 mln loan to Pekao Leasing for SMEs

European Investment Bank (EIB) granted an EUR 150 million loan to Poland's listed lender Pekao leasing unit Pekao Leasing for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), EIB said in a press release.

At least 20 percent of the funding will go to climate-friendly investments. The funds are to support less-developed regions of Poland in accordance with the EIB's main priority, which is promoting cohesion across the European Union.

"Around EUR 420 million of investments are expected to be supported in total with the EIB loan to Pekao Leasing. The minimum 20 percent of funding being earmarked for climate-friendly projects will help firms replace machinery and equipment with more energy-efficient options," said EIB deputy chairman Teresa Czerwinska, as quoted in the press release.
