Enea SAEnea power prioritises energy storage growth in RES segment in 2026
Listed power utility Enea plans to focus on energy storage projects in its renewable energy segment in 2026, while expecting a decline in margins and production from conventional sources, deputy CEO Bartosz Krysta told a press conference. In the mining segment, the goal is to achieve stable levels of coal output and sales.
Enea's presentation showed that in 2026, the group expects stable coal production and sales in the extraction segment, accompanied by a decline in prices.
"In the mining segment, the biggest challenge will certainly be to maintain production volumes, because, as we know, demand for coal in the energy sector is constantly falling," deputy CEO Bartosz Krysta told the press conference on Monday.
"In the shorter term, especially next year, the challenge is the price of coal in Poland, which is lower than it would appear from price indices. This will be a very big challenge for the group and for Bogdanka," he added.
Krysta pointed out that in energy distribution, the challenges will include the process of issuing connection conditions and regulatory issues.
As reported, the use of opportunities on the capacity market will have a positive effect on generation, while the decline in electricity production from conventional sources, the decline in margins achieved on generation, and the decline in revenues from balancing capacity will have a negative effect.
"In production, we are seeing a decline in results and margins due to falling electricity prices," Krysta said.
He listed cost optimisation, efficient power plant operation, and the use of all other mechanisms that make it possible to cover costs and generate income-the balancing market, new balancing services, but also transformational investments that will rebuild the strength of this segment.
Enea announced that in the RES segment, it expects an increase in installed capacity, an increase in electricity production, and the development of energy storage projects in 2026.
The company prioritises building standalone and hybrid energy storage systems connected to high and medium voltage networks alongside photovoltaic installations in the renewable energy segment.
"We have very high ambitions in this area and a lot of work for the next 3-4 years. We are implementing several photovoltaic projects, we have wind projects, we have ideas for a good transformation," said the deputy CEO of Enea.
According to the presentation, in 2026, the trading segment will benefit from growth in eco-friendly product sales, lower wholesale electricity purchase prices, and the end of regulatory price freezes. However, declining energy sales prices will negatively impact results.
