JSW SAJSW coal's wages must be reduced, says state assets deputy minister
Wages must be reduced at listed coking coal group JSW, Poland's deputy minister of state assets Robert Kropiwnicki told the lower house of Polish parliament - Sejm.
"It is necessary to reduce wages enough to save the company because you cannot have a situation where the wage fund increases by 60 percent over 10 years and the management does nothing about it," Kropiwnicki said.
He announced that the company's wage fund had increased from PLN 4.6 billion (EUR 1.1 bln) in 2021 to PLN 7.4 billion (EUR 1.7 bln) in 2023, and that employees had received 10-year employment guarantees.
In the second quarter of 2025, the net loss of the JSW group's parent company amounted to PLN 724.1 million (EUR 170.2 mln), against a loss of nearly PLN 6 billion (EUR 1.4 bln) in the prior year period. The market had expected a loss of PLN 687.1 million (EUR 161.5 mln). In the entire first half of the year, the net loss of the parent company reached PLN 2.09 billion (EUR 491.2 mln).
