Kaufland to launch e-commerce platform in Poland in 2024

German retailer Kaufland plans to launch an e-commerce platform Kaufland Marketplace in late summer of 2024 in Poland and Austria, the group said in a press release.

"Entering Poland and Austria, we are expanding our presence in Europe and are offering retailers a chance to enter new markets and reach millions of new clients," Gerald Schönbucher, Kaufland's chief of e-commerce said, quoted in a press release.

"Kaufland Global Marketplace provides international and local retailers a proven tool for swift and simple online selling in multiple countries at once," he added.

The company's goal is expanding their success on the e-commerce market in Germany, Czechia and Slovakia into the Austrian and Polish market. The retailers can already register on new trading platforms.

The retailers can gain access to five international markets simultaneously and a possibility to reach 81 million clients online. The group provides services, such as processing of local currency payments or multichannel marketing solutions.

Since mid-February, retailers have access to the Fulfillment by Kaufland (FBK) service, which involves Kaufland taking over the completion, packing and sending the orders directly to the client, as well as offering post-sales service.

The group said that, since a year of operating in the Czech Republic and Slovakia Kaufland's e-commerce platforms are among the biggest online sales providers.

In Slovakia 4,200 registered retailers offer more than 6.5 million articles in more than 6,400 categories.

In the Czech Republic 4,700 registered retailers offer more than 5.9 million items with Kaufland Marketplace averaging 5 million visits monthly.

In Germany the e-commerce platform offers more than 45 million products from more than 6,400 categories, with monthly visits reaching 32 million.

Kaufland is an international retail store chain offering groceries and daily use products. In the whole of Europe Kaufland owns 1,500 stores and employs around 155,000 workers.

In Poland the chain owns 245 stores and employs around 15,500 employees.
