Listed lender mBank is on track to achieve the highest net profit in the bank’s history in 2025, with the fourth quarter likely to bring slightly higher risk costs than those recorded in the third quarter, said risk management deputy CEO Marek Lusztyn.
After three quarters of 2025, mBank Group’s net profit rose to PLN 2.5 billion (EUR 589.3 mln) from PLN 1.26 billion (EUR 296.9 mln) a year earlier. In the entire 2024, mBank Group recorded a profit of PLN 2.24 billion (EUR 527.9 mln).
"We have the highest net profit after nine months, and that is not all – we are on a trajectory toward the best result in the history of mBank Group. We expect to be able to say at the beginning of next year that we have had another record-breaking year," Lusztyn said at a conference.
"The cost-to-income ratio is already significantly better than what we have assumed in the new strategy. We have profitability close to our strategic aspirations," he added.
The normalized cost-to-income ratio after three quarters was 29.9 percent, below the strategic target (
Risk costs stand at 0.61 percent, while in the second quarter they were at 0.4 percent.
"In the third quarter, risk costs normalized with an increase in reserves for corporate exposures, while the level of risk costs remains relatively low," said Lusztyn.
"The fourth quarter, as is usually the case due to its nature, will likely bring slightly higher risk costs than the 61 basis points seen in the third quarter. For the entire year, they should not exceed 65 basis points," he added.
Pascal Ruhland, deputy CEO for finance, stated that the impact of the CIT (corporate income tax) rate change may amount to PLN 800-900 million (EUR 188.6-212.1 mln) in 2026.
