PGE SAPGE power expects energy price reduction in G11 tariff in 2026
Listed power utility PGE is securing electricity for the G11 tariff group for next year and anticipates a reduction in the price of the tariff for households, PGE's deputy CEO Maciej Gorski told a press conference.
"We are still in the process of contracting electricity for the G11 tariff group for next year, so we cannot make a binding statement today as to how much the tariff price will be," Gorski told the press conference.
"Firstly, because we do not know the full costs, and secondly, because it is also the result of a dialogue that we will be conducting with energy market regulator URE on Wednesday," he added.
PGE's deputy CEO pointed out that the tariff season will begin at the start of the fourth quarter.
He noted that PGE maintains plans for lowering prices in the G11 tariff.
"Our ambition is to reduce them in a way that allows us to operate profitably (...), but on the other hand, we also understand that there is a reference point in the form of a price that is to be frozen until the end of the year at PLN 500 per MWh. (...) We do not expect it to be a good direction to suddenly raise prices sharply from January 1," Gorski said.
He pointed out that among secured energy cost, other factors, such as profiling and operating costs, must also be considered in talks with Poland's energy market regulator URE.
"I hope that we will be able to reach a very rational, sensible compromise (...)," said Maciej Gorski.
The current energy tariff for households averages around PLN 623 (EUR 146.22) per MWh. However, prices are frozen at PLN 500 (EUR 117.35) net per MWh until the end of September 2025.
