PGE SAPGE power plans to obtain environmental decision for offshore project this year
Listed power utility PGE wants to participate in the December offshore auction. It plans to obtain an environmental decision for one project this year, according to company representatives.
"We have the ambition to participate in the December offshore auction. We are working on obtaining environmental decisions for our projects. The most advanced is the B1 project, where we are in the final stages of obtaining an environmental decision," said deputy CEO Maciej Gorski at a meeting with journalists.
"We plan to obtain an environmental decision for one offshore project this year, which will enable us to participate in the auction," added the deputy CEO.
When asked about the second offshore project in partnership with Orsted, he replied: "We are in the so-called reconfiguration phase. We want to implement this project. However, the project has not yet been contracted, and after the US president's decisions, prices have gone up."
PGE wants to analyse the issue of nuclear technologies.
"Nuclear technology is experiencing a renaissance in both small and large nuclear plants. As a major player in this technology, we cannot ignore it. We have to analyse whether this technology can have a place in our mix," said CEO Dariusz Marzec.
"We cannot ignore SMRs, which may enter the market within a few years. We should do the work and analyse this, and we want to analyse the location in Turow from this perspective," added the CEO.
