PGE SAPGE power reviews whether Konin and Belchatow sites for excludable factors for second NPP
Listed power utility PGE reviews both potential locations for Poland's second nuclear power plant - Konin and Belchatow; the company checks for factors that would exclude hosting nuclear generation assets, PGE's CEO Dariusz Marzec told the Baltic Nuclear Forum in Gdansk.
"For now, we need to research whether both of these locations don't have factors excluding the construction of nuclear generation assets," Marzec said.
"Next, we will have to study the locations in terms of specific technology requirements (...) which we will consider, so for now, we are at a stage of technological neutrality," he added.
Marzec stressed that from the perspective of risk management, you need to have at least two solutions in reserve.
"That is why we are talking about Konin and Belchatow," he underlined.
Among the factors favouring the location of the second nuclear power plant project in Belchatow, he mentioned infrastructure, human resources, power derivation and public acceptance.
Asked about a possible partner if Belchatow is selected, he reiterated that PGE currently wants to conduct location analyses in a technologically neutral manner.
