Merit SAPoland postpones plans to increase funeral allowance to PLN 7k until Jan 1, 2026
Poland's Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy is postponing the plan to increase the funeral allowance to PLN 7,000 (EUR 1,615) until January 1, 2026, according to the latest draft bill on the matter. The previous draft assumed an increase in the allowance within 14 days of the new regulations coming into force.
The ministry estimates the cost of the benefit increase for the public finance sector at PLN 1.5-2.7 billion (EUR 346-623 mln) per year, compared to PLN 1.4-2.3 billion (EUR 323-531 mln) previously.
According to the proposed regulations, the funeral allowance is to be subject to annual valorisation in March by the average annual inflation from the previous year. The first valorisation is planned for 2027.
