PGE SAPoland's central transportation hub and PGE unit sign contract to connect CPK airport to grid
Poland's central transportation hub CPK and the Lodz branch of listed power utility PGE's distribution unit PGE Dystrybucja have signed an agreement to connect the CPK airport to the 110 kV grid, CPK stated in a press release.
It indicated that at the beginning of 2030, PGE will provide the airport with connection power worth 122 MW and the estimated value of the agreement is approximately PLN 10 million (EUR 2.4 mln).
"We will want to offset the significant energy demand of CPK airport with energy production from our own RES in the future, to get closer to the EU's zero-carbon requirements for public benefit facilities," said the CEO of CPK company Filip Czernicki, quoted in the press release.
CPK reported that the airport's energy demand will gradually increase with its expansion and could reach up to around 350 MW of capacity.
Ultimately, CPK plans to become a Distribution System Operator, taking into account its own production from RES located in the immediate vicinity of the port.
