Poland's development bank BGK may launch new call for energy projects in coming weeks

In the coming weeks, Poland's state development bank BGK may launch a call for applications for non-grid projects of energy companies worth more than PLN 200 million (EUR 47.8 mln), according to BGK's first deputy CEO Marta Postula. The loans in question are national recovery plan KPO loans under the Energy Support Fund.

"As for the Energy Support Fund (FWE), here we have already signed several agreements. In the first place (...) we collected applications for power grids, and in this aspect all the entities that wanted to have submitted such applications," Postula told journalists.

"We have several agreements already signed: an agreement with Tauron for PLN 11 billion and an agreement with Energa for PLN 7.7 billion," she added.

Asked about a possible agreement with listed power utility PGE in this regard, she replied that the bank is constantly working and evaluating applications, so she hopes that new information will flow in the coming weeks.

BGK's deputy CEO also said that in addition to supporting the transformation of power grids, there is another pool of funds in the Energy Support Fund FWE.

"We also have a certain pool of funds guaranteed for entrepreneurs implementing projects above PLN 200 million. At the moment, negotiations are still underway with the European Commission on monitoring the effects of these projects. As soon as the regulation is issued and the monitoring is accepted by the EC in agreement with the Ministry of Climate and Environment (MKiS), we will start accepting applications," she pointed out.

Asked when this might happen, she replied that BGK hopes this will happen in the coming weeks.
