Poland's development funds minister opposes REITs; will block if they appear in gov't works
Poland's Minister of Development Funds and Regional Policy Katarzyna Pelczynska-Nalecz is opposed to the introduction of REITs; if such a solution appears in the government's work, she will block it, Pelczynska-Nalecz wrote on X.
"I am against REITs (...) REITs lead to an increase in housing prices. There is hard evidence for this in research. If REITs appear in the government's work, I will block them," wrote Pelczynska-Nalecz.
The introduction of new financial instruments, including REITs, is part of the Ministry of Finance's action and development plan for 2025-2028, presented in February of 2025.
The Ministry of Finance informed PAP Biznes in March that conceptual work on the introduction of REITs in the ministry is nearing completion. So far, the ministry has not presented any specific solutions in this regard.
REITs (Real Estate Investment Trusts) are a type of investment fund that allows funds to be invested in rental properties.
