Poland's FSRU project in Gdansk on schedule - industry ministry
According to the concluded contracts for the supply of the vessel and contracts with the contractors for construction works in both the marine and land part, the programme for the location of the floating LNG terminal (FSRU) in the Gulf of Gdansk is to be completed according to the assumed schedule, i.e. at the turn of 2027 and 2028, Poland's Ministry of Industry wrote in response to a parliamentary question.
"The FSRU programme is progressing according to schedule. As of today, the investor has signed all key agreements for the implementation of the project, in particular: the charter agreement for the delivery of the FSRU, the agreement with the contractor for construction works in the offshore part and agreements for the implementation of all three sections of the onshore gas pipeline in the Gdansk-Gustorzyn section," the ministry wrote.
It added that the technological launch and operation of the Gdansk terminal is planned for the turn of 2027 and 2028.
The FSRU programme is an investment by gas transmission pipeline operator GAZ-SYSTEM.
"This programme envisages the location in the Bay of Gdansk of a Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU), i.e. a permanently moored vessel capable of unloading LNG, in-process storage and regasification, as well as providing additional services," the ministry wrote.
The FSRU terminal is to be capable of receiving at least 6.1 billion cubic metres of gas per year.
"In addition, if additional business needs of the market are identified (depending on the increase in demand for natural gas in the country and the region), it will be possible to increase the regasification capacity," the industry ministry signalled.
