Poland's government open to dialogue on energy transition with energy-intensive industries
The Polish government is open to dialogue on energy transition, including with energy-intensive industries, said energy minister Milosz Motyka told a conference during the Energy Days in Katowice. He added that work is underway on changes to fees and compensation for this sector.
"Transformation is not just a slogan, it is an ongoing process, and either we approach this transformation boldly and prudently, or we will ensure that Poland remains the country with the most expensive energy prices in Europe," Motyka stressed.
He added that the transformation is an opportunity to avoid this.
"We are also open to dialogue with energy-intensive industries. We are working intensively, and some of the issues that we have managed to introduce in recent months, such as speeding up the process of advance payments towards compensation or work on re-parameterising fees, are ongoing," the energy minister said.
"We are aware of the risks posed not only by the energy transition, but also by the opening of the market, which I discussed with the trade unionists, because I understand their concerns," he added.
Motyka announced that the government would boldly discuss the transition, including with representatives of the mining industry, and would present its benefits, facts, data and evidence.
