Poland's PM does not rule out personnel decisions in regard to KPO funds for HoReCa sector

On Tuesday, at a government meeting, minister of development funds and regional policy Katarzyna Pelczynska-Nalecz will explain the procedure for granting support under Poland's national recovery plan KPO to companies in the HoReCa sector, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced at a briefing in Bydgoszcz. He added that after this information is provided, he will make decisions, including personnel decisions if necessary.

"The overwhelming majority of these funds went to Polish companies to compensate them for losses resulting from Covid. This had to be done quickly, and therefore probably less carefully, and we will investigate this," Poland's Prime Minister said.

"Minister Pelczynska-Nalecz is responsible for these actions, and tomorrow at the government meeting, she will probably spend a long, long time explaining each element of these procedures and will also talk about what she did as the supervisor of this ministry," he added.

Tusk continued that after receiving this information, he will have sufficient material to make decisions, including personnel decisions, if necessary.

"I am not going to scare anyone, especially at a press conference, but if I decide that someone has failed here at the political level, they will face the consequences," he stressed.

On Friday, Krzysztof Guld, the acting head of Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP), announced that the preliminary results of the extended audits of HoReCa projects financed from EU funds within the framework of Poland's national recovery plan KPO may be available by the end of September.

Deputy minister of development funds Jan Szyszko indicated that information about possible irregularities in this programme was the reason for the dismissal of PARP's head Katarzyna Duber-Stachurska.
