Poland's team coal prices for power generators down by 1.9 pct m/m in June
Polish steam coal prices for the power sector, as represented by the PSCMI1 index, decreased by 27.5 percent year on year to PLN 348.32 (EUR 81.86) per tonne in June 2025 on a 1.9 percent monthly decrease, according to state industry development agency ARP and commodity exchange TGE.
The PSCMI2 coal price index for heating plants fell by 19.1 percent year on year and decreased by 1.6 percent month on month to PLN 461.97 (EUR 108.57) per ton in June, ARP and TGE also said.
ARP reported that the average value of the PSCMI1 index for the second quarter of 2025 was PLN 351.95 (EUR 82.71)/t. Compared to the second quarter of the previous year, it decreased by 28.1 percent, and compared to the previous quarter, it decreased by 2.7 percent.
The average value of the PSCMI2 index for the second quarter of 2025 was PLN 470.25 (EUR 110.5)/t. Compared to the second quarter of the previous year, it decreased by 17.0 percent, and compared to the previous quarter, it decreased by 3.3 percent.
The PSCMI1 index (Polish Steam Coal Market Index) expresses the price of coal for the so-called professional and industrial power industry, while the PSCMI2 index expresses the price of coal for industrial and municipal heating plants.
The value expressed in the indices is the net price of coal 'on the wagon' at the point of loading - excluding excise tax, insurance costs and delivery costs.
