Poland's transportation hub CPK inks PLN 84.8 mln deal to design first stage of rail hub
Poland's Central Transportation Hub CPK company has concluded a contract worth approximately PLN 84.8 million (EUR 19.9 mln) for the design of the first stage of the CPK railway interchange with a consortium of Elkol and Mosty Katowice, the company said in a press release.
As stated, the scope of work includes, among other things, a section of the Warsaw - Lodz highspeed railway line (line 85), which will pass under the airport.
The contract stipulates that the basic order will be completed in 1,5 years, and the entire contract - including any optional tasks - in four years.
The basic contract includes, among other things, the preparation of a construction project, the acquisition of a building permit and the preparation of materials for administrative decisions and geological and engineering documentation.
"The design of the railway interchange is currently one of the key contracts. You cannot count on the success of a new airport without it being well connected to the railway network," said government plenipotentiary for CPK Maciej Lasek, quoted in the press release.
"That is why it is so important that the design of the CPK interchange responds to the transport needs of passengers and is prepared by experts with many years of experience in the industry," he added.
