Orlen SAPolish and Czech companies from Orlen Group complete consolidation process
Orlen Kolej (Polish railway unit) has become the owner of Orlen Unipetrol Doprava, a company specialising in the transport of chemical products, while Orlen Transport has acquired Petrotrans, one of the largest road fuel transporters in the Czech Republic, Poland's largest energy concern Orlen announced in a press release.
As stated, the transactions will increase the group's transport security in the refining and petrochemical sector and enable synergies in the area of logistics, strengthening the group's position in Europe.
"We strive for operational excellence and increased efficiency of our processes. We are focusing and optimising our logistics activities, taking full advantage of the capabilities of Czech companies, resulting, among other things, from the experience of their employees," said Orlen's deputy CEO for wholesale trade and logistics Ireneusz Sitarski, quoted in the release.
"The completed transactions are necessary for the further development of the Orlen Group's transport services and the fulfilment of its strategic objectives, including those related to the decarbonisation of transport," he added.
As reported, the consolidation of logistics services within the Orlen Group took place through the acquisition of 100 percent of the shares of Orlen Unipetrol Doprava by Orlen Kolej and a 100 percent stake in Petrotrans by Orlen Transport. The Czech companies will remain separate legal entities, operating on the market under their existing brands.
