Poland average CPI even below 4.5 pct in 2025 after extension of energy price freeze, says MPC member
With the extension of the energy price shields for households to 2025, average annual inflation next year could even be below 4.5 percent, and inflation at low levels raises the question of interest rate cuts, Poland's Monetary Policy Council member Henryk Wnorowski told Radio Maryja.
"The information available today shows that inflation in Poland will be within the target in 2026. Next year, if the shield is maintained for three quarters, the average annual inflation should not exceed 5 percent, I think it will even be below 4.5 percent," Wnorowski said.
"At the moment, we are at relatively low levels of inflation and one can say that inflation today is not a big problem. In my view, this position raises the question of when the first interest rate cuts will take place," he added.
