Poland sees gradual shift of insured persons from agricultural insurance fund KRUS to social insurer ZUS
There is a gradual shift of insured citizens from the Agricultural Social Insurance Fund (KRUS) to Poland's social insurer ZUS, the Ministry of Finance wrote in a statement.
"Due to the gradual restructuring of agricultural output, there is a continuous shift of insured persons from KRUS to ZUS," the finance ministry reported.
The number of insured in KRUS has been steadily decreasing: as of June 30, 2024, the number of people insured in KRUS was 1,021,000, against 1,520,000 in 2010, 1,434,000 in 2015 and 1,161,000 in 2020.
"In the future, it is also assumed that there will be a systematic decrease in the number of pensions in KRUS and an increase in ZUS," the MinFin assessed.
"This is due to economic changes, in which the share of those working in agriculture decreases with the development of the economy, but also due to changes in the labour market," it concluded.
