Poland's economic development minister wants to define timber as strategic raw material
Poland's minister of economic development and technology Krzysztof Paszyk has announced a legislative initiative, which will define timber as a strategic raw material for the Polish economy. It will aim, among other things, to limit the uncontrolled export of wood from Poland.
"We want this raw material to be available, not disappear, not leave the country. I want to assure you today that I am taking a legislative initiative that will aim to define timber as a strategic raw material for the Polish economy," Paszyk said during the Timber Industry Congress, organised by Poland's Ministry of Economic Development and Technology (MRiT).
The deputy minister of climate and environment Mikolaj Dorozala declared his willingness to start cooperating on this issue soon.
"Minister Krzysztof Paszyk has just declared his willingness to start MRiT's work on timber as a strategic raw material (including limiting the uncontrolled export of unprocessed wood from Poland)," Dorozala wrote on X.
"A very important and necessary declaration. The climate ministry and the State Forests are ready to cooperate on this project even from tomorrow," he added.
