Poland's ruling coalition to meet still on Monday, says Polska 2050 leader
Leaders of Polish ruling coalition parties are to meet still on Monday, Polska 2050's leader Szymon Holownia said at a press briefing. He added that his agenda for the meeting is clear - renegotiating the coalition agreement.
"Today we have a meeting of coalition leaders, which I hope will be productive. We need to discuss the situation related to what happened yesterday in connection with the presidential elections," Holownia said.
"I believe that we should renegotiate the coalition agreement, we should draw conclusions from what happened during this election process in this coalition agreement as soon as possible," the speaker of the Polish parliament added.
Polish PM Donald Tusk will address the Polish people on the TVP Info public television broadcaster at 20:00 local time.
Karol Nawrocki, backed by the socially-conservative Law and Justice (PiS) opposition party, won the presidential runoff vote in Poland on Sunday, having garnered 50.89 percent of the vote.
The Donald Tusk government is a coalition cabinet composed of the Civic Coalition (KO) and two junior partners, Poland 2050 and the Polish People's Party (PSL). It was sworn in by President Andrzej Duda on December 13, 2023.
