Poland's Supreme Audit Office warns that exceeding 60 pct debt level may result in longer EDP
Poland's Supreme Audit Office (NIK) warns that exceeding the 60 percent debt level may result in the extension of the excessive deficit procedure (EDP) and the adoption of additional corrective measures, NIK assessed in its post-audit statement on the implementation of the 2024 budget.
"According to the forecast contained in the Public Finance Sector Debt Management Strategy for 2025-2028, the ratio of general government debt to gross domestic product will exceed 60 percent in 2026, in 2027 it will rise to 61.3 percent, and then in 2028 it will slightly decrease to 61.2 percent," NIK reported.
"This increases the risk of exceeding the second reference value after the deficit, which is 60 percent of GDP for debt, which may result in Poland being subject to the European Commission's excessive deficit procedure for a longer period and the need to take additional corrective measures," it added.
