Polish govt to regulate benefits for all foreigners in Poland
Polish government is working on a solution that will regulate social benefits for all foreigners in Poland, not only Ukrainians, government spokesman Adam Szlapka told a conference.
"The Council of Ministers is working on a solution that will regulate benefits for all foreigners in Poland, not only Ukrainians, not only the 800+ benefit, but all those that are potentially payable, and will link them to work or to being registered with Poland's social insurer ZUS, which is directly related to work," said Szlapka.
He added that by the next session of the lower house of parliament Sejm (September 9-12 according to the current Sejm calendar), the government will present solutions to the above-mentioned issue, as well as on the extension of temporary protection for refugees from Ukraine in Poland.
On Monday, head of presidential office Zbigniew Bogucki told a briefing that Poland's President Karol Nawrocki is opposed to raising taxes or levies.
President Nawrocki has introduced his own legislative proposal, which limits access to social benefits and healthcare only to Ukrainians who are working and paying contributions in Poland.
Additionally, his project aims to change citizenship granting rules — increasing the residency requirement from three to ten years — and toughening penalties for illegal border crossings, including up to five years imprisonment.(PAP Biznes)
