Polish industry ministry submitts draft update of nuclear plan with first nuclear unit in 2036
Poland's Ministry of Industry has submitted for consultation a draft update of the Polish Nuclear Power Programme (PPEJ), according to which the first nuclear power plant unit in Pomerania is to commence commercial operation in 2036. The consultation on the document will last until July 25.
"The aim of the Polish Nuclear Power Programme (PPEJ) is to build and commission two nuclear power plants with a total installed capacity of approximately 6 to 9 GW based on proven, large-scale, Generation III(+) water-cooled nuclear reactors and to create conditions for the further development of nuclear energy," according to the document submitted for consultation.
The attached schedule for the construction of the first nuclear power plant in the municipality of Lubiatowo-Kopalino indicates the start of construction work (first nuclear concrete) in 2028 and the start of commercial operation of the first unit in 2036.
