Google to invest billions of zlotys in Poland
Google announces investments of billions of zlotys in Poland, Ruth Porat, President and Chief Investment Officer of Alphabet and Google, said without giving details. She referred to Google's letter of intent with the Poland's state development fund PFR signed in Warsaw on Thursday.
"We are delighted with the signing of the letter of intent, which is another important step after years of Google investment in Poland, including the building of Google's largest engineering centre in Europe today," Ruth Porat wrote on LinkedIn.
"To realise the vision of the agreement, Google assumes an investment of billions of zlotys," she added.
Google hopes to work closely with the Polish government and PFR to accelerate Poland's adaptation to artificial intelligence solutions, which the Google's CEO believes will bring Poland significant benefits.
PFR, the National Cloud Operator and Google Cloud signed a letter of intent to cooperate in the field of artificial intelligence on Thursday.
The signatories of the letter will jointly develop a strategic plan for the accelerated development of key sectors of the Polish economy, based on the advanced use of AI.
The head of PFR Piotr Matczuk said on Thursday that the first stage of the work is expected to take about four to six months.
"We hope that this will result in new investments by Google in Poland and we are talking about a scale expressed in billions of dollars," Matczuk stated.
Google has been operating in Poland since 2005. Google's offices in Warsaw, Cracow and Wroclaw employ more than 2,000 people.
Development and engineering teams work on global projects ranging from advanced cloud technologies and AI solutions to ChromeOS and Pixel.
In 2022, the company invested USD 700 million in the acquisition and development of The Warsaw HUB office complex.
