UPDATE: Centrist Trzaskowski wins 1st round of Polish presidential vote - exit poll
Rafal Trzaskowski, the centrist candidate of the governing Civic Coalition party, won 30.8 percent of the Polish presidential vote on Sunday, beating his right-wing rival, Karol Nawrocki, who secured 29.1 percent, an Ipsos exit poll has shown.
Nawrocki is supported by Poland's former ruling party, the socially-conservative Law and Justice.
The two will now face off in the run-off vote on Sunday, June 1.
Far-right Slawomir Mentzen of the Confederation party came third on 15.4 percent, according to the exit poll run by Ipsos for Poland's public television TVP and private broadcasters TVN24 and Polsat News.
Another far-right candidate, Grzegorz Braun, took 6.2 percent of the vote, the left-wing Adrian Zandberg won 5.2 percent, lower house speaker Szymon Holownia was supported by 4.8 percent of voters while The Left's Magdalena Biejat by 4.1 percent.
Support for the remaining six hopefuls ranged from 1.3 to 0.1 percent, according to the exit poll.
The estimated turnout was relatively high, at 66.8 percent. (PAP)
