JSW coal announces force majeure, updates 2024 coal production target to 12.35 mln tonnes

Listed coking coal group JSW announces force majeure, updates operational target for coal production in 2024 to12.35 million tonnes, the company said in a market filing.

"The decision in question is related to the occurrence of an increase in the fire hazard at KWK Pniowek (...), i.e. a situation that could not have been foreseen, avoided or overcome, remaining beyond the company's control, affecting the functioning of JSW and the mining works conducted," JSW wrote in the market filing.

The remaining resources to be mined on the coking coal mine KWK Pniowek longwall amount to approximately 100,000 tonnes.

JSW's management board also announced that it has revised its basic operating assumptions for 2024.

"Accordingly, the company announces an updated operational target for coal production in 2024, which has been set at 12.35 million tonnes," JSW stated.
