The highest turnout was reported in the Mazowieckie province, central Poland, where it reached 58.51 percent at 5pm, and the lowest in the Opolskie province, southwestern Poland, where it came to 48.05 percent.
Voting began at 7:00am and is slated to run to 9:00 pm local time.
Poles are choosing between Warsaw mayor Rafal Trzaskowski of the main governing centrist Civic Coalition and Karol Nawrocki backed by the main opposition party, the socially-conservative Law and Justice.
The PKW said that 28,115,594 citizens are eligible to cast ballots in the second round at 32,143 polling stations open in Poland, 511 overseas and five on ships.
Mandatory election silence is in force nationwide until the end of voting. Exit-poll results are expected shortly after.
The PKW will hold the final press conference today at 10pm, with preliminary official results due on Monday.
