Orlen energy signs agreement with Equinor on development of CCS technology in Poland

Poland's largest energy concern Orlen signed has signed a so-called memorandum of understanding with Norwegian power utility Equinor regarding the development of CCS technology in Poland.


"One of the three pillars of Equinor's strategy is the development of the low carbon technology value chain, including in the area of CCS. (...) We are bringing this experience to Poland, and we look forward to developing CCS technology together with Orlen," deputy CEO of Equinor Irene Rummelhoff said during the signing ceremony.

As she added, there could potentially be both CO2 export projects from Poland and CO2 capture and storage in Poland, but a strategy for CCS and appropriate regulations are needed.
