Orlen SAOrlen energy signs contract to supply 100 mln cubic metres of natural gas to Ukraine
Poland's largest energy concern Orlen Group and its Ukrainian counterpart Naftogaz have signed a purchase and sale agreement for natural gas that will be delivered to Ukrainian consumers in April, Orlen said in a press release. The transaction covers the supply of approximately 100 million cubic metres of natural gas. The raw material will come from the United States.
As stated, to implement the transaction, Orlen purchased a cargo of LNG in the US, which will be delivered to the terminal in Swinoujscie, from where it will be sent to the Polish-Ukrainian border after regasification.
"Another gas supply contract for Naftogaz demonstrates the competitiveness of Orlen's offering. We are consistently developing our trading competence and using our experience in the US market - thanks to this we can offer attractive commercial terms to our partners," said the CEO of Orlen Ireneusz Fafara, quoted in the press release.
"Our priority is stable gas supply. Cooperation with Orlen expands LNG import capacity in Ukraine and increases energy security. We are diversifying our sources of supply to ensure a reliable and accessible gas supply, this is particularly important in the face of ongoing Russian attacks on our infrastructure," said Naftogaz of Ukraine's acting CEO Roman Chumak.
The signed agreement is the second concluded by Orlen and Naftogaz in March 2025. As a result of the previous one, Ukraine will also receive 100 million cubic metres of gas from an LNG cargo, which will be delivered via the Lithuanian Klaipeda terminal, where Orlen holds a reservation of regasification capacity.
Both transactions are based on a memorandum of understanding between Orlen and Naftogaz on cooperation in the supply of natural gas.
