KGHM Polska Miedź SAPoland to present changes to so-called copper tax on Friday - media
On Friday, Poland's Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of State Assets are to present changes in the so-called copper tax, Business Insider Polska reported, citing sources.
The portal cited sources saying that listed copper producer KGHM intends to use the potential savings from the tax reduction for investments.
"It is mainly about the construction of new ventilation shafts for the deposits exploited by the company on its mining concessions in Poland," Business Insider Polska wrote.
In February, Deputy Minister of State Assets Robert Kropiwnicki said that funds from the reduction of the copper tax open up investment opportunities for KGHM, i.e. enabling it to allocate several billion zlotys for investments in new deposits or the construction of new shafts.
Finance Minister Andrzej Domanski said in February that the finance ministry sees the possibility of reducing the copper tax by PLN 500 million (EUR 117.1 mln) in 2026 and by PLN 700 million (EUR 164 mln) in 2027.
Domanski further reported at the time that the finance ministry would like the copper tax cap to be extended beyond 2027.
